From the 26th to the 29th of September Vapormatt will be exhibiting at the Composites and advanced materials expo (CAMX) at the Anaheim convention center in Anaheim, California. CAMX is the largest composites and advanced materials event which aims to bring leading associations, companies and academics under one roof to showcase the latest technologies and innovations in composite and advanced materials.
Exhibiting on booth H51, with over 550 other exhibitors, Vapormatt shall be putting their wet blasting technology in the spotlight. The controlled surface finishing process uses a mix of compressed air, water and an abrasive media to finely etch the surface of various composite components. The use of water allows for a lubricating effect that gives greater flow of the media over complex shapes and also a buffering action to ensure underlying fibers are not damaged during blasting.
Having sold over 100 machines for composite preparation the Formula 1 racing and aerospace industries have benefitted from the high levels of surface energy that are left on the surface after wet blasting. This, as explained in our free white paper, makes a very reactive and adhesive surface which is well prepared for any bonding, lacquering or painting processes that may occur afterwards.
“With more and more parts being made from composite materials the demand for wet blasting has increased. We have a range of small manual cabinets for individual components but also much larger systems for the composite preparation of propeller and fan blades” comments, David Clements, Vapormatt USA. “At CAMX we hope to show people just how good the wet blasted surface is with a demonstration machine available for offering free samples.” He concludes.
On stand will be a working Panther machine for visitors to bring their sample pieces for testing. Surface activity can then be recorded immediately after blasting as, BTG Labs will be demonstrating the Surface Analyst™, a fast, easy, accurate, and non-destructive handheld instrument for manufacturers with critical surface requirements. In 2 seconds, the Surface Analyst quantifiably measures how prepared a surface is for adhesion to reduce product failure and waste. Visit BTG Lab's website to learn more.
