I would imagine that when people think of Thailand manufacturing is not necessarily the first thing that comes to mind.
It certainly wasn’t for me…
That was until we decided to look into the market opportunities that the ASEAN region could bring for providing wet blasting solutions.
The ASEAN aims to increase the economic growth of its 10 member states and it doesn’t take much digging to find out that they have been doing this very well. The current predictions suggest that the region can expect GDP to grow at a rate of 6% annually from now until 2015.
If you add the forecasted GDP growth to the growing number of wet blast users it makes the decision to focus on this region an attractive one.
It was therefore very timely that the EIA invited us to exhibit at the Metalex show in Bangkok. As part of the UK pavilion (Hall 105, Stand B507) Vapormatt will be exhibiting alongside several other UK engineering firms that are looking to bring their technologies to the region.
With the show drawing the attention of 2,700 exhibitors from 50 countries a massive 68,000 visitors are expected to attend in 2013. Not only does this exceed the population of Guernsey (where Vapormatt was founded!) it also shows the immense interest in metalworking technologies in the region.
Headed up by Vapormatt’s Asian manager, Allan Parker, visitors will be able to discuss a wide range of wet blasting applications used in the metalworking industry, particularly those involved with the manufacture of cutting tools and with Wire Tech being co-located to Metalex there is great opportunity for those involved with the wire and cable industry.
The event, which is run at the end of November, happens to tie in very well with Vapormatt’s overall strategy to establish a formal presence in Thailand. As part of our on-going ambition to be the World’s leading wet blasting company the move to Thailand will enable us to give better response time to our customers, reach new markets and provide our Asian agents greater support.
